Welcome back for another Game of Thrones Season 8 End Game Theory video. Today I am talking about the character known as Samwell Tarly. The last time we saw him he was with Bran Stark in Winterfell, but I want to talk about what led him to this point. How has Samwell Tarly been able to survive for this long? He has had a very interesting journey of his own. Sam found the stash of Dragonglass, along with what might have been the Horn of Winter. Sam has also defeated a White Walker with one of those Dragonglass daggers. We have also seen Samwell Tarly and Gilly get saved by Jon’s direwolf, Ghost. In my opinion, some of this may have been due to a decision Sam made back in the first season. When it was time for Sam and Jon to say their Night’s Watch vows, Sam decided to say his vows in front of a Weirwood Tree. Now this isn’t the first time a man of the Night’s Watch has said their vows to the Old Gods, but the reason why I think it was so significant for Sam is because he did this with the Song of Ice and Fire, Jon Snow. I believe the Old Gods are keeping Samwell Tarly alive for a very specific reason. Now that he has teamed up with Bran Stark, there is a very good chance they will find the answers to defeat the Night King. Sam came to us as a broken man, but in the end, he will become one of the heroes of this story.
